Position Overview:
The Surgical Technology Intern plays a vital role in supporting the nursing staff and preparing patients for surgical procedures within the Surgical Service Areas. This position involves being an integral part of the sterile team, which includes properly donning surgical attire, establishing and maintaining a sterile environment, and providing necessary instruments to surgeons in accordance with AORN standards.
Educational Requirements:
Candidates must be enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be eligible for this internship.
This role requires the intern to work under the guidance of a qualified graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program, adhering to the relevant regulations.
It is essential for the intern to make consistent progress towards graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program while employed, with immediate reporting of any changes in enrollment status.
Qualifications and Certifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hiring or transferring to the department.
