Radiation Therapist Job Summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the daily patient flow of the Radiation Oncology clinical location, evaluating and developing new processes for patient care, and contributing to the improvement of Radiation Oncology operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist physicians in treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation using specialized equipment.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, explain procedures to patients, position patients, and administer treatments.
  • Monitor patients during therapy sessions to ensure their comfort and observe any changes in their condition.
  • Simulate patient treatment according to the treatment plan and deliver prescribed doses of ionizing radiation.
  • Design and construct custom treatment devices for individual patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Requirements:
  • Current Radiation Therapy license issued by IEMA Department of Nuclear Safety.
  • Registry or registry eligible with ARRT within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of a 2-year training program in Radiation Therapy.
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation.
  • Understanding of physics and patient care techniques acquired through an approved program in radiation therapy technology.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, allied health personnel, and other Medical Center personnel.
  • Analytical skills required to provide accurate care instructions to patients and interpret physicians' prescriptions for treatment course.
