This is a benefit-eligible, full-time position working 12-hour night shifts on various days at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas in the Telemetry/Stepdown 2 West unit.
About the RoleThe Patient Care Assistant provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team. They assist patients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collect data, and ensure the patient has a safe, organized environment.
Responsibilities- Assist patients with personal needs and activities of daily living
- Collect data and ensure patient safety
- Support the unit with patient logistics, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to communicate effectively and critically think on the spot if there are abnormal vital signs. You will also need to be able to work effectively with nurses on the floor, servicing up to 9 patients during a 12-hour shift.
Qualifications- One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider
- Current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school
- Current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
- CNA certification
- Multiple patient skills
- One year acute care experience
