Certified Nursing Assistant Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides daily nursing care and services to residents in accordance with their assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors. This role requires a sincere desire to work with elders and others with limited capacity for self-care, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide routine daily nursing care and services to residents
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc.
  • Report changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
  • Perform tasks in accordance with facility policies and procedures
  • Ensure residents' rooms are ready for receiving residents
  • Assist with daily dental and mouth care, bath functions, dressing/undressing, hair care, and nail care
  • Shave residents as needed and keep them dry
  • Maintain intake and output records
  • Assist with activity and social programs
  • Check residents routinely to ensure their personal care needs are met
Requirements:
  • Unencumbered, active CNA certification in the state of employment
  • Possess a sincere desire to work with elders and others with limited capacity for self-care
  • Mental and physical capacity to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations
  • Ability to work with individuals of varying personality types and maturity levels
  • Demonstrate creative initiative and mature judgment in making competent decisions
  • Consistently maintain a courteous, empathetic, and professional attitude
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Maintain confidentiality of all activity, persons, and records
  • Communicate and comprehend orally and in writing to effectively receive and share information
Education/Experience:
  • Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws
