Job Overview

The Managing Attorney will oversee the Lead Attorneys for assigned states, ensuring the effective management of legal operations and litigation practice. This role requires a qualified attorney with advanced knowledge of consumer protection laws and experience in managing a team of attorneys.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a team of Lead Attorneys, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful execution of legal operations and litigation practice.
  • Collaborate with Firm Management to evaluate production data and caseload production needs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate Firm production and audit expectations to staff, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to expectations.
  • Meet regularly with Firm Management to discuss and implement State office needs and goals, ensuring alignment with Firm objectives.
  • Extract and analyze data sets to reduce costs and improve processes, identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Prepare and review performance reports for Firm Management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop expertise with client scorecards and champion process/personnel improvements to meet and exceed legal performance goals.
  • Participate in client calls and ensure timely handling of client and business demands, maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Communicate with clients in a responsive manner, ensuring understanding and satisfaction with Firm services.
  • Work collaboratively with Firm Management to address legal performance, corrective action, and client business demands, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with Firm objectives.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations, formulating legal opinions for review by Firm Management.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current with local, state, or federal changes in the law, rules of court, or court procedures.
  • Train, oversee, and mentor Lead Attorneys and other Retail Attorneys in the execution of all legal pleadings, preparation for, and arguing court proceedings.
  • Proactively identify and resolve personnel issues, ensuring a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements
  • Qualified, licensed attorney with minimum 4+ years of experience in consumer collection litigation, with advanced knowledge of consumer protection laws.
  • Ability to manage 20+ employees, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of state and federal consumer protection laws, with knowledge of client requirements and adherence associated with legal support functions.
  • Ability to collaborate with other employees to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying high-quality solutions.
  • Ability to identify strong talent and build individual and management capability.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to drive and motivate other employees to achieve results.
  • Ability to influence and inspire action, with excellent written and oral communication skills across a broad spectrum of attorney and non-attorney recipients.
