POSITION SUMMARY: The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for executing both administrative and clinical duties to ensure the Health Center operates efficiently and adheres to established guidelines. This role is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service, as interactions with patients significantly influence their overall clinic experience.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:
  • Measure vital signs, identify values outside the normal range, and communicate abnormal findings to the RN, LPN, or healthcare provider.
  • Conduct phlebotomy and collect various specimens, including urine and throat swabs.
  • Execute diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms, point-of-care testing, and screenings for hearing and vision.
  • Occasionally accompany clients to community appointments.
  • Evaluate youth for indicators of abuse and complete necessary assessments.
  • Schedule external appointments and monitor follow-up visits as required.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Drivers to arrange transportation for residents.
  • Serve as the liaison for the Dental Van and coordinate the dental clinic during on-site visits.
  • Verify insurance status when necessary.
  • Finalize charts post-discharge from the agency.
  • Maintain up-to-date progress notes for each youth, documenting their care while on campus.
  • Draft reports, correspondence, and track data using Microsoft Word, Excel, and MyEvolv.
  • Organize and file medical forms and documents received in medical charts.
  • Assist in chart reviews to enhance compliance.
  • Complete forms such as WIC, School, Camp, Work, and others as needed; check labs as they are received and distribute accordingly; participate in SPRs as a third-party reviewer; and complete HIPS forms.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program with certification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.

SALARY: $24.12 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move for extended periods.
  • Capability to manipulate equipment and lift objects weighing 20-25 pounds.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to perform various skills and techniques safely.
  • Regularly required to stand, talk, or hear; frequently required to use hands to handle or feel; and reach forward with hands and arms.
  • Required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch as necessary.
