Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage the production of plans for transportation projects in collaboration with ODOT and local agencies utilizing MicroStation/ORD or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Engage with clients, including ODOT, local agencies, and other consulting firms.
  • Formulate project budgets and timelines.
  • Create technical letters of interest and fee proposals.
  • Exhibit both theoretical and practical knowledge in civil engineering and specialized software.
  • Collaborate closely with internal technical teams and industry peers to deliver transportation design and consulting engineering services, primarily for ODOT and local municipalities.
Physical Requirements

This position may involve occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking. Duties will be performed in the field, requiring the ability to navigate project sites and utilize a computer. Travel to and from project locations is necessary, along with the capability to use communication and documentation equipment. Visual acuity is essential for performing responsibilities.

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • PE license is mandatory.
  • At least 10 years of experience in roadway engineering roles, particularly with ODOT or local agency projects.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/IORD software is essential.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and other design modeling software is advantageous.
  • Experience in storm sewer drainage design, pavement markings, signing plans, erosion control, and maintenance of traffic plans is required.
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS, HY8, StormCAD, and other drainage software is a plus.
  • Experience in roundabout design is beneficial.
  • Leadership experience in guiding a design team or mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
  • Strong computer and communication skills are essential.
  • A thorough understanding of ODOT Cincinnati and Design Manual and Standard Specifications is preferred.
