Mortgage Loan Originator Job Description

Fifth Third Bank, National Association is seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop referral contacts and maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines.
  • Collect and deliver loan packages in a timely manner, manage pipelines, and complete required management reports.
  • Communicate with branches and applicants to provide timely updates and progress reports.
  • Attend and participate in Consumer Lending meetings as required by management.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent mandatory; four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines, residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Two years of mortgage sales lending experience, an established local book of business, and existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, strong written and verbal communications skills, teamwork and customer service skills, and proven computer skills.
