Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical support to healthcare providers, patients, and families in a medical office setting. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and assisting with procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records, including updating medical histories and documenting test results.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and responding to emails.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a medical assisting program preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting.

Certification and Licenses Required:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.

Environmental/Working Conditions:
Medical office setting with exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to healthcare environments.

Physical/Mental Demands:
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced environment.
