Nutrition Services Technician III

We are seeking a highly skilled Nutrition and Dining Services Technician III to join our team at Bryan Health. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to food preparation, inventory control, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and assemble a variety of hot and cold food or beverage items for patients and customers.
- Use Nutrition and Dining Services (NDS) software to coordinate menu selections and complete menu system processes.
- Assess quality of ingredients and accurately assemble ingredients in accordance with established recipes and procedures.
- Practice safe food handling and storage techniques to prevent foodborne illness and cross-contamination.
- Receive, store, and distribute food, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner.
- Rotate stock and assist with physical inventory to support purchasing activities.
- Prepare and measure special food/formulas/nourishments for patients on therapeutic diets.
- Deliver nourishments and tube feedings to nursing units at designated times.
- Monitor patient tube feedings per physician orders.
- Act as a liaison between Nursing Service and Nutrition and Dining Services to receive phone/computer orders and expedite food service requirements.
- Serve as a lead worker/facilitator overseeing patient tray assembly for designated meals.
- Introduce new patients to department services and assist with menu selections.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Dietitian and Dietetic Technician to address nutrition issues and concerns.
- Set up and supply service lines, vending operations, and Physicians Lounge with required food and supplies.
- Operate a cash register and reconcile cash with documented transactions.
- Assist with catering functions and events.
- Ensure stocked levels of dining service related supplies in service areas.
- High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Food Handler's permit required.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must be 18 years of age to legally operate floor mixers, motorized slicers, or cook on open flame grill surfaces.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, formulas, and nourishments used in a hospital environment.
- Knowledge of clinical food service products and inventory management.
- Knowledge of food service preparation methods and practices.
- Knowledge of food nutrition, specialized diets, and dietary recommendations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer, and ancillary departments.
- Ability to interpret food production sheets and computer printout information.
- Ability to safely operate applicable kitchen and hospital equipment.
- Ability to perform work in a timely and efficient manner within strict timelines.
- Ability to operate a cash register and reconcile cash with documented transactions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.
- Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.
(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
(DOT)-Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Requires manual dexterity to assemble, prepare, package, display, and deliver food products/items.
