Job Summary

The Cook position at Mille Lacs Health System is responsible for preparing and serving food in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as MLHS Nutrition Services policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare food according to menus, recipes, and diet extensions, following safe food handling procedures.
  • Ensure portion control, temperature, and appearance of all items meet standards.
  • Prepare, set up, serve, and clean up special catering events.
  • Assist with meal service as assigned.
  • Operate dish machine to wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Store clean dishes according to standards.
  • Clean and sanitize food delivery equipment.
  • Follow cleaning and sanitizing procedures.
  • Perform work efficiently while maintaining a neat, sanitary work area.
  • Promptly report malfunctioning equipment to Manager, Lead, Nutrition Services Coordinator, and/or Maintenance.
  • Prepare and deliver snacks per rotation.
  • May be assigned to run the cash register.
  • Put away groceries as assigned.
Requirements
  • Previous quantity cooking experience.
  • Health care industry experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • ServSafe certification required.
Work Environment

Service Worker. Shifts are scheduled Monday through Sunday with day and evening shifts, rotating weekends and holidays.

Must complete criminal background check as required by the State of MN and drug screening per MLHS policy.
