We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Specialist to join our team at Lake Huron Medical Center. As a key member of our Admitting department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration process for our patients.
Responsibilities- Interview patients or their representatives to obtain demographic information and secure insurance details
- Work closely with the Admitting department, including the PBX operator and reception areas, to ensure seamless communication and data exchange
- Operate a computer to input and retrieve data, maintaining accuracy and efficiency
- Communicate effectively with patients of all ages, utilizing age-specific techniques to ensure understanding and satisfaction
- Maintain proficiency in medical terminology and stay up-to-date with changing regulations and policies
- Participate in special projects and assignments as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
- Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a customer service focus
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent is required
