Medical Equipment Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Central Sterile Technician III to join our Sterile Processing team at UNC Health Johnston. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in preventing infection by sterilizing, cleaning, processing, assembling, storing, and distributing medical supplies.
Responsibilities- Perform all functions of the Central Sterile Tech II, including decontaminating, processing, and distributing supplies and equipment to departments.
- Assist supervisor in day-to-day activities, including answering phones and daily assignments.
- Verify that required instrumentation has been sterilized and available for next-shift.
- Document broken instrumentation and assist in sending broken equipment out for repair.
- Orient, precept, and mentor trainees and technician I/IIs.
- Conduct random audits on trays assembled by new teammates and provide re-education with techs on tray errors.
- Serve as a resource by guiding new and current teammates to appropriate resource materials.
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of CPD, including decontamination, assembly, sterilizers, storage, and HLD.
- Two (2) years of central sterile tech experience.
- Working knowledge of sterilizers, washer decontaminates, cart washers, and patient care equipment.
- General knowledge of basic and specialty surgical instruments, implants, patient-related supplies, materials, and equipment, aseptic and sterilization techniques.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate, and reassemble.
- Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Knowledge and understanding of a variety of OR procedures' surgical instruments, including working parts and proper inspection.
