Assistant Director of Nursing

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating the nursing department at Friendship Village Chesterfield. In the absence of the Director of Nursing (DON), the ADON assumes administrative authority and responsibility for nursing department functions and activities, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
Key Responsibilities:
- Department Management: Supervises direct nursing care and services, administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is needed, and makes regular rounds to ensure proper care and a safe environment for residents.
- Documentation and Compliance: Oversees the accuracy and completion of clinical documentation according to FV policy and State/Federal regulations, coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans, and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
- Staffing and Development: Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, and orientation of nursing staff, engages in family/resident counseling, and assists in developing, organizing, and implementing nursing services and programs.
- Quality and Safety: Assists in implementing and evaluating quality of care, including ongoing auditing of Quality Indicators, and provides specific orientation to nursing staff and monitors compliance with various protocols for safety.
- Management Responsibilities: Assists in supervisory activities for effective department management, including employee selection, development, salary/budget administration, counseling, motivation, and disciplinary actions.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required, BSN from an accredited college or university desired, three years nursing management experience in senior care preferred, and experience in geriatric/rehabilitation care with knowledge of restorative nursing.
- Certifications and Licenses: Long Term Care – RN or LPN required, and CPR certification required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Communication and Teamwork: Strong oral and written communication skills, capable of achieving high performance goals and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, and works collaboratively in a team environment that fosters inclusiveness and communication.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
