Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Procurement Engineer role is essential for enhancing our supplier network by executing tasks that identify, evaluate, and qualify new or alternative suppliers to mitigate risks associated with components and suppliers. This position also involves translating clinical insights into actionable design modifications in collaboration with suppliers. A self-motivated individual with a keen interest in learning about processes, products, market dynamics, regulatory standards, and quality requirements in the healthcare sector is ideal.

Responsibilities include:
  • Facilitating all stages of supplier development and negotiations, leveraging practical knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Supporting complex supply chain optimization that involves diverse technologies and suppliers.
  • Conducting supplier assessments, development, qualification, and selection to align with production and supply strategies.
  • Identifying and communicating sourcing risks throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborating with leadership to discover potential new sources that align with business goals.
  • Working with sourcing, quality teams, and suppliers to establish appropriate specifications for components and assemblies.
  • Gaining insights into manufacturing technologies and understanding the implications of various manufacturing methods.
  • Learning about assigned product categories and how end-users interact with these products.
  • Monitoring and managing improvements in supply risk, quality, material costs, and lead times.
  • Coordinating all sourcing project deliverables to enhance supply efficiency.
  • Planning and executing project timelines with managerial guidance.
  • Utilizing supplier knowledge to implement strategies and mitigate risks under supervision.
  • Managing the sourcing process for assigned categories, including market research, bid preparation, and contract negotiations.
  • Overseeing supplier relationships during the sourcing process and leading business reviews.
  • Resolving supplier-related issues and recommending alternatives when necessary.
  • Collaborating across multiple functions and time zones in a professional and organized manner.
  • Achieving or exceeding financial and operational objectives outlined in the annual plan.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in engineering, strategic sourcing, or manufacturing within healthcare-related industries.
  • Proven track record of achieving results and managing similar responsibilities.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
  • Basic understanding of Verifications and Validations, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
