Position Summary:


The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing precise measurements and calibrations within the dimensional, pressure, electrical, and thermal domains for the Metrology Lab.

Key responsibilities will encompass calibrating, adjusting, and repairing a variety of equipment, including but not limited to:

mechanical and dimensional measuring and testing instruments, temperature and pressure switches, gauges, transducers, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, and thread plug gages.

This role also involves conducting tests and calibrations utilizing diverse testing instruments such as:

super micrometers, optical comparators, digital height gauges, portable gauge calibrators, digital pressure indicators, dead weight testers, manometers, barometers, analog pressure gauges, and digital multi-meters.


Additional Responsibilities:
• Comprehend and articulate fundamental electrical and electronic principles
• Discuss troubleshooting methodologies and effective equipment utilization
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely calibration of all equipment and efficient review of calibration results
• Conduct in-house calibrations and verify equipment configurations according to established protocols
• Liaise with vendors, internal stakeholders, and equipment owners to arrange services and prepare equipment for calibration
• Review calibration certificates for adherence to instructions and internal standards
• Prepare equipment for off-site calibration logistics
• Coordinate priorities with clients to align with production schedules
• Track, monitor, and log all calibration requests
• Interpret specifications and requirements for metrology personnel
• Oversee, assign, and provide resolution support for all corrective action requests
• Maintain and update computer systems and documentation for accurate record-keeping and calibration status
• Generate and distribute weekly metrics for departmental activities
• Identify and recommend enhancements for metrology equipment; ensure calibration tools are functional and well-maintained
• Support quality audits related to metrology processes and procedures
• Determine consumables and material requirements for the Calibration Lab
• Seek continuous improvement opportunities within Calibration Lab processes
• Collaborate with other facilities to ensure consistent calibration practices.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and diagrams
• Strong foundation in dimensional and physical measurement techniques
• Availability to work all shifts, including overtime and weekends as necessary
• Capability to interpret company policies and procedures
• Proficient in computer usage, including Microsoft Office Suite and standard calibration software
• Knowledgeable in measurement principles, applied mathematics, and calibration procedures
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory

Preferred:
• 2+ years of experience in precision tooling and/or calibration
• 4+ years in the maintenance and calibration of metrology instruments
• Experience with Electric Boat operations
• Military or shipboard electronics experience is advantageous, with preference for U.S. Navy experience
• Bachelor's degree or technical degree is preferred
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration within a customer-centric organization
• Effective team member or leadership experience
• Proficient in meeting facilitation
• Familiarity with SUBSAFE, SDD-SOC, and FBW SCS technical requirements
