Pump Mechanic/Field Service Technician Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission different types of pumps and associated equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, seals, bearings, and other related components.
  • Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues in pumps, identifying and fixing problems related to vibration, cavitation, leakage, or inadequate flow.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and repair or replace defective parts such as impellers, shafts, bearings, seals, and gaskets.
  • Ensure proper alignment of pumps and motor shafts, and balance rotating assemblies for optimal performance.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, work orders, and service reports.
  • Follow safety regulations and company policies while working on equipment, and adhere to industry standards such as OSHA and MSHA.
  • Perform pressure, flow, and performance tests to ensure pumps are operating at required specifications.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and operations staff to troubleshoot system-wide issues and optimize pump systems.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational training or certification in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a pump mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Mechanical certification (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license (required).
  • OSHA/MSHA safety certification (a plus).

Work Environment:

  • Fieldwork in various industrial settings (factories, water treatment plants, oil fields).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and stand or crouch for long periods.
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, loud noise, and variable weather conditions.
