Position Overview

General Summary:


The role involves accurately and efficiently processing and documenting routine transactions for members, which includes cashing checks, accepting deposits and withdrawals, and handling loan payments and money transfers.

Additionally, the position entails managing new membership applications and updating existing member accounts. The representative will also promote and provide guidance on the Credit Union's offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhering to Bank Secrecy Act regulations
  • Timely and accurate recording of all transactions in line with Credit Union protocols
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls and established policies
  • Accurately posting transactions to member accounts while maintaining confidentiality
  • Handling cash transactions, including deposits and withdrawals, and verifying for counterfeit currency
  • Validating member identities and cashing checks
  • Accepting checks and cash for deposits, ensuring deposit slip accuracy, and verifying checks for authenticity
  • Providing member services such as ordering loan coupons, checks, and issuing ATM/Debit cards
  • Implementing holds on accounts as per Credit Union policies
  • Processing loan and VISA payments
  • Completing transfers, vouchers, and fees
  • Managing night and mail deposits
  • Ensuring ATM machines are secure, processing deposits, and reconciling the ATM
  • Resolving issues related to member accounts
  • Balancing currency, coin, and checks in the cash drawer at the end of the day
  • Assisting with branch opening and closing procedures
  • Opening new memberships and explaining various account products to members
  • Promoting Credit Union products and services and referring members to appropriate departments
  • Making referrals to the Investment & Retirement Center
  • Providing notary services if licensed
  • Facilitating member transitions to digital services
  • Performing other assigned duties as needed

Qualifications

Requirements:
To excel in this role, candidates should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Completion of all mandatory compliance training (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act)
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving and reasoning capabilities
  • Solid mathematical skills for computing rates, ratios, and percentages
  • Team-oriented mindset that fosters a positive team environment
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and assist fellow Tellers
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Completion of Credit Union University, Product & Service Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Two years of experience in a Teller or customer service role
  • Availability to work 2-3 Saturdays per month
