Wireless technologies are integral to all Apple devices that enhance customer satisfaction.Utilizing advanced developments in cellular technology, we employ a sophisticated simulation platform to analyze device performance under complex radio and network conditions, providing valuable insights for system design.
In this position, you will be central to a silicon design team responsible for physical layer systems for groundbreaking wireless SoC products, focusing on wireless system design, modeling, and simulations.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in the innovative work of designing and developing cutting-edge cross-layer simulation model infrastructure and toolsets, which will be crucial for cellular R&D across various teams within Apple.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Integrating PHY reference models into PHY-only, reduced signaling, and full-stack pre-silicon simulation and verification environments utilized by systems engineering, hardware, firmware, and software development teams.
- Working on simulation framework-related topics, including regression infrastructure development, test coverage analysis, automation script design, and tool deployment and library integration.
- Designing and implementing 4G/5G PHY models for pre-silicon simulation and verification.- Verifying PHY models using third-party testing tools and test data from external network vendors.
- Contributing to link-level simulator modeling, meaningful metric testing, and framework design.
- Performing 4G/5G PHY/MAC layer abstraction/modeling and interfacing with higher layers through external simulators.
- Creating test cases for feature verification, driving feature bring-up, and resolving issues.
- Collaborating across teams to define and document project requirements, including model architecture, interfaces, and feature sets, while addressing integration challenges with hardware and firmware teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient in Python and C/C++, including familiarity with the latest C++ standards and professional experience in C/C++ software development.Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in build systems, configuration, and release management.
- Solid understanding of simulator frameworks for link- and system-level simulations, as well as firmware development.- Experience in code optimization techniques and developing efficient code, including memory and runtime profiling, along with knowledge of C/C++ compiler internals.
- Comprehensive knowledge of wireless communication systems with practical experience in 4G/5G PHY firmware design, pre-silicon verification, and critical metric testing.
- Experience in workflow automation for verification and regression testing.- Familiarity with Matlab and a solid understanding of baseband signal processing algorithms.
- Strong knowledge of current cellular communication standards: 5G (NR) and 4G (LTE). Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills (issue triage, debugging, and defect resolution).
- Experience in chip bring-up, including the use of laboratory equipment, is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one component of our comprehensive compensation package and is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you develop within your role.
The base pay range for this position is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will be influenced by your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
