The Continuous Improvement Engineer is an essential member of the DwyerOmega team, focusing on the reduction of inefficiencies in both manufacturing and administrative processes. This role is pivotal in driving the company's lean initiatives and acts as a collaborative partner with Production and other functional areas to enhance lean activities. The position ensures that strategic deployment goals are in harmony with the annual lean transformation objectives. By utilizing lean methodologies, the engineer fosters ongoing enhancements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Innovation, contributing to overall growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates site-specific lean initiatives, ensuring that lean-driven activities align with the broader strategic goals of the organization.
  • Proposes, develops, and executes lean principles that improve the operational effectiveness of the facility.
  • Identifies and prioritizes improvement opportunities based on tactical planning goals such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation, and Growth derived from value stream analysis.
  • Leads projects aimed at production balancing and the deployment of visual scheduling tools.
  • Educates team members on Lean principles and tools, promoting innovative solutions for system and process enhancements, including Standard Work, Continuous Flow, Material Flow, Value Stream Mapping, Ergonomics, Kanban, TPM, SMED, 5S, Lead Time, Inventory Control, JIT, Cycle Time, and more.
  • Plans, organizes, and leads administrative and operational kaizen events, ensuring effective communication and completion of kaizen activities.
  • Encourages open communication and engagement from employees involved in the lean processes.
  • Establishes and maintains a tracking system for open items from all kaizen events, ensuring timely completion or integration into future events.
  • Employs Lean techniques to conduct process evaluations and assists in the development of standardized work procedures.
  • Implements performance metrics for lean processes to support the overall business strategies and objectives.
  • Reports on scheduled kaizen activities, documenting the number of events and outcomes achieved, while tracking and validating all savings linked to lean initiatives.
  • Assists the Lean Transformation Manager in cultivating a skilled workforce capable of facilitating Kaizen events.
  • Promotes and implements flow in both manufacturing and administrative processes to eliminate waste.
  • Participates in Lean Daily Management (LDM) meetings, formulates countermeasures, and aids in recovery plans when performance targets are not met.
  • Supports the development and implementation of new processes and products.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management, adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Intermediate understanding of lean fundamentals and production balancing is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required for the position.
