Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

The Institute for Human Services, Inc. is a leading human services agency dedicated to ending and preventing homelessness. With over 45 years of experience, we offer a comprehensive continuum of care that includes emergency shelters, housing programs, health services, employment assistance, and outreach.
As a key member of our team, you will work in partnership with internal programs, including the outreach and clinical teams, and IHS Health Services Clinics. Your primary role will be to provide psychiatric treatment and diagnosis for guests and clients of IHS. You will prescribe medications, advise program staff on health and mental health issues, and engage in continuous education of guests/clients to maintain optimum mental health and wellness.
**Essential Responsibilities:**
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service aligned with the organization's Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Diagnose guests and clients in need of mental health services and collaborate with IHS staff to identify mental health needs and link them to necessary resources.
- Work collaboratively with program staff to meet the medical, psychiatric, and social needs of IHS guests and clients.
- Assist case managers/outreach workers in communicating with primary providers regarding healthcare issues, including chronic illness management, medication management, diagnostic procedures, and health/mental health education and support.
- Regularly document and complete required documentation on clients/guests served.
**Required Qualifications:**
- Working knowledge of mental health and medical needs of homeless and/or disenfranchised populations.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- Able to perform psychiatric assessments, develop appropriate formulations, interventions, and service plans that assist individuals with complex problems.
- Current BLS or CPR certification.
- Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organization's mission.
- Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
**Salary and Benefits:**
