The Fire Sprinkler Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation of fire sprinkler systems in newly constructed structures and renovations to existing structures with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:- System Installation: Cut, fabricate, and install steel pipe and CPVC pipe as designed for the fire sprinkler system.
- Component Installation: Install and hang a variety of pipes, sprinkler heads, fittings, hangers, and other fire protection components following blueprints and construction documents.
- Valve Installation: Install and trim a variety of valves for wet, dry, and pre-action fire protection systems.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to ensure the sprinkler system is constructed as designed.
- Project Close-Out: Ensure all project close-out documents are turned in as needed, such as test papers, red line drawings, owner training, signed extra work orders, etc.
- Job Meetings and Coordination: Attend job meetings and coordinate schedules with the General Contractor and other contractors.
- Project Timeline Management: Ensure project timelines are being met, and all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner to complete the project on time and on budget.
- Reporting and Communication: Report any scheduling delays, personnel issues, safety concerns to your direct supervisor.
- Project Management: Coordinate and manage all assigned projects with the superintendent, General Contractor, and employees.
- Vendor and Contractor Communication: Ensure communication with vendors and contractors is conducted in a professional manner.
- Progress Reporting: Complete daily progress reports, including any accidents, changes in design due to field conditions, proposed changes in scope, and conflicts with design as related to existing conditions.
- Material Management: Ensure all materials for a job are ordered and on site as required. Once on site, materials should be laid out or stored in a safe and orderly fashion in the designated location.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure company-provided vehicles are clean and well-maintained in accordance with company policies.
- Work Area Maintenance: Ensure all work areas remain clean, safe, and orderly while working and at the end of the workday.
- Tool Maintenance: Clean, inspect, and service required tools in accordance with company policies.
- Tool and Equipment Security: Ensure all tools, equipment, and supplies are secured and accounted for while on the job site and prior to the end of the workday.
- Progress Updates: Daily report to the superintendent or General Contractor on progress and/or job-related problems.
- Training and Development: Train Sprinkler Fitters and Sprinkler Apprentices on all aspects of their job.
- Safety Program: Understand and follow Summit Fire & Security's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures. Participate in weekly Toolbox talks. The Foreman must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.
- Additional Duties: Other duties may be assigned.
The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications, and Experience may meet the job qualifications.
- Education and Training: HS Diploma or equivalent is required. NICET Certification is preferred.
- Experience and Knowledge: 5-10 years' experience installing fire sprinkler systems is required. Must be able to work alone and as part of a team. Construction experience, basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, customer service skills, decision-making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, ability to plan and organize, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to train others is required.
- Communication Skills: Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
- Systems and Software Skills: Ability to operate a computer, tablet, and read electronic blueprints is required. Experience with SalesForce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Other Qualifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to comply with Summit Fire & Security's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

- Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders, and stairs, kneel, lift 50lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
- Work Environment: Frequent local travel and occasional regional and non-regional travel is required. Employee will frequently be required to work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes, and odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards frequently. Employees will occasionally be exposed to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies.
