Swim Instructor

As a Swim Lesson Instructor with the Johnston Community School District, you will be responsible for teaching American Red Cross swim lessons to students of varying skill levels. This is a part-time position that requires a strong passion for teaching and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.

• Teach swimming techniques, strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying abilities.
• Assist more experienced swimmers to enhance their skills.
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching programs accordingly.
• Monitor students to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Implement ground rules for each swim session.
• Plan swimming lessons that take into account students' abilities and progressive development.
• Identify and correct incorrect swimming techniques.
• Keep the work area clean and prepared for class.
• Attend all assigned meetings and in-services.

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR-PR certification preferred.
• American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

This position will be located at the Johnston Community School District facilities and program-specific locations. Work days and hours may vary depending on program needs.
