Job Summary

The Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in administering the underwriting and servicing of new and renewal accounts for assigned Nonprofit agents and producers. This position requires a strong understanding of Company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing.
  • Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Operate within written authority grant and make referrals to Nonprofit and Home Office Underwriting as required.
  • Collaborate closely with Nonprofit team members to develop and implement business plans for assigned agents and geographic areas.
  • Coach agents on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.
  • Provide professional, timely, and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross-departmental staff.
Requirements
  • 10 years of commercial lines property and casualty experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of characteristic exposures of nonprofit organizations.
  • Technical command of underwriting of liability, professional, property, automobile, and umbrella exposures of nonprofit organizations.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze information to make informed risk selections and pricing decisions.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to Nonprofit business planning.
  • Respect for confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
