Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

About the Role:
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist PRN provides critical information for patient diagnosis by operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality images. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs per protocol and physician orders
- Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines
- Position patients for each anatomical view using immobilization and protective equipment as appropriate
- Effectively explain procedures to patients and document accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Transport patients within the guidelines defined by JPS Health Network
- Monitor accessory equipment and assist physicians with fluoroscopic procedures
- Accurately process images and critique for optimal quality, positioning, and technical factors
- Understand and use Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities
Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent from AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology Science
- 0-4 years of experience as radiographic technologist
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R)
- Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologist Technologist (MRT)
- Current JPS recognized BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience as radiographic technologist and demonstrated competency in at least three of the following areas: Trauma, Fluoroscopy, Correctional Health, Orthopedics, Bone Density, Surgical or Pain Management C-arm use, and Imaging Quality Assurance/Quality Control
- Surgery experience is preferred
- Fluoroscopy experience is preferred
- Trauma experience preferred
- 1+ year of experience using EMR/PACS
