About the Role:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist PRN provides critical information for patient diagnosis by operating radiologic equipment to produce high-quality images. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate radiologic equipment to produce radiographs per protocol and physician orders
  • Adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines
  • Position patients for each anatomical view using immobilization and protective equipment as appropriate
  • Effectively explain procedures to patients and document accurately in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Transport patients within the guidelines defined by JPS Health Network
  • Monitor accessory equipment and assist physicians with fluoroscopic procedures
  • Accurately process images and critique for optimal quality, positioning, and technical factors
  • Understand and use Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and other software related to job responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology Science
  • 0-4 years of experience as radiographic technologist
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R)
  • Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologist Technologist (MRT)
  • Current JPS recognized BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of experience as radiographic technologist and demonstrated competency in at least three of the following areas: Trauma, Fluoroscopy, Correctional Health, Orthopedics, Bone Density, Surgical or Pain Management C-arm use, and Imaging Quality Assurance/Quality Control
  • Surgery experience is preferred
  • Fluoroscopy experience is preferred
  • Trauma experience preferred
  • 1+ year of experience using EMR/PACS
