Position Overview
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is accountable for delivering and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process, ensuring safe and therapeutic practices in alignment with established standards, policies, and procedures.

- Engages patients and their families in care planning and maintains a therapeutic relationship throughout the healthcare journey.
- Proactively identifies and responds to significant changes in patient conditions, mobilizing necessary resources and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patient-centered care.
- Implements strategies aimed at minimizing patient risks and enhancing safety, tailoring educational approaches to meet the learning needs of patients and families.
- Coordinates discharge planning through an interdisciplinary approach, applying evidence-based practices in patient care delivery.
- Continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes, taking appropriate actions when necessary to improve care quality.
- Facilitates effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution among healthcare team members, assuming a leadership role in care coordination.
- Promotes a culture of safety by identifying potential threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent harm.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing departmental functions and patient care experiences.
- Engages in professional development activities to foster personal growth and the development of peers.
Licenses & Certifications
Must possess a Registered Nurse license issued by the relevant state authority and hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Educational Requirements
Completion of an accredited nursing program is required.
Experience
A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is typically required.
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrates a holistic approach to patient care, with the ability to recognize and respond to situational changes with confidence and flexibility. Proficient in computer skills, including electronic medical records systems, and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians. Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Certification Requirements
Team members are expected to maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.
