Job Overview:

As a Water Resource Engineer at Cash Waggner & Associates, you will engage in both structural and non-structural engineering tasks. Your role will involve the collection and analysis of data, modeling of flood scenarios, and conducting cost-benefit assessments for various water-related infrastructures including waterways, pipelines, dams, dikes, culverts, and canals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of field crews.
  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to stakeholders and management regarding engineering specifications for construction, modifications, and repairs.
  • Utilize design software and drafting tools to effectively communicate and render engineering designs; plan and design related systems such as transportation and hydraulic structures.
  • Evaluate the integrity of construction materials through testing and analysis of soil and other materials.
  • Establish design criteria by calculating load requirements, material stress factors, and water flow metrics.
  • Plan and execute projects based on comprehensive analyses of relevant documentation including drawings, blueprints, aerial imagery, survey reports, and geological data.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on project-related topics, including environmental assessments and right-of-way evaluations.
  • Estimate the necessary materials, equipment, and labor to ascertain project costs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure the smooth progression of projects.
  • Work alongside surveyors to set up installations or reference points, grades, and elevations critical to construction.
  • Monitor ongoing projects to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety protocols, and sanitation standards.
  • Upon project completion, conduct inspections and perform maintenance on structures as required.
  • Execute additional related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) and other relevant design and analysis software.
  • Experience with HEC-RAS or similar computational fluid dynamics simulation software.
  • In-depth understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools related to water infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations pertinent to engineering projects.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex engineering challenges.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity for both creative and analytical thinking.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specializing in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensure or the ability to obtain licensure within one year of employment is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Willingness to travel to various project locations.
  • Capability to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
