Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Automation Engineer to join our team at Charles Schwab. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions for our network services organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, including data center, cloud, and large campus infrastructures. Experience with Ansible Engine and Tower, API Frameworks, and Terraform is also highly desirable.

As a Network Automation Engineer, you will work closely with our infrastructure and operations teams to ensure successful and efficient deployment solutions. You will also be responsible for maintaining and supporting platforms used to deliver automation and monitoring solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, develop, and support automation solutions for the Network Services organization
  • Maintain and support platforms used to deliver automation and monitoring solutions
  • Investigate complex technical issues and work with partnering personnel and vendors to resolve issues
  • Work within the Agile framework to provide estimates and deliver new product functionality in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide clear and accurate documentation and training to other Schwab team members as needed
  • Lead delivery efforts around network engineering automation initiatives and contribute code and engage in code reviews
  • Develop concepts into fully architected production-ready solutions
  • Assess current network engineering implementations and recommend automation processes to improve availability, validation, and successful deployments
  • Improve and promote configuration and lifecycle management processes
  • Create software that manages and maintains a multi-vendor, network environment
  • Assess and develop Infrastructure as Code solutions that encompass hybrid infrastructure deployment

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience in networking, including data center, cloud, and large campus infrastructures
  • Experience with Ansible Engine and Tower, API Frameworks, and Terraform
  • Experience with DevOps tools, including Bitbucket, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux
  • Proficiency with Python
  • Proficient in both Linux and Windows as well as common network platforms such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Experience working with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban work processes
  • Engineering degree or a related technical field or equivalent experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in building REST microservices and web-based applications
  • Experience with Containers and Container repositories like Harbor
  • Experience with implementing network monitoring and telemetry solutions
  • Experience with vendor-specific configuration solutions such as DCNM and Arista Cloud Vision
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE certifications
