Job Description:

The GNOC Tools and Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing monitoring and automation tools within a global network operations center (GNOC) environment. This role combines tool management expertise with Python scripting for self-healing automation and front-end development to support application team portals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tool Management and Optimization: Administer, configure, and optimize monitoring tools such as Splunk, Spectrum, and ExtraHop.
  • Automation and Self-Healing Development: Develop Python scripts to automate monitoring workflows, self-healing mechanisms, and incident response processes.
  • Front-End Development for Application Portals: Design and develop user-friendly web portals that provide real-time data visualization and access to key network metrics for application teams.
  • Integration and Collaboration: Integrate Splunk, Spectrum, and ExtraHop with other IT systems and platforms to create a unified monitoring and automation ecosystem.
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document tool configurations, automation workflows, and front-end development processes.
Requirements:
  • 4 years of experience in network architecture/engineering, DNS, automation engineering, or related roles.
  • Proficiency in administering and configuring Splunk, Spectrum, and ExtraHop.
  • Strong Python scripting skills, with experience developing automation and self-healing solutions.
  • Experience with docker, piranha, and Kafka.
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
