Product Engineer - Brakes

Amsted Rail is seeking a skilled Product Engineer - Brakes to join our team in Greenville, South Carolina. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and maintenance of specific product designs within our brake product line.

The Product Engineer - Brakes will work closely with other design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and operations personnel to maximize the value and performance of assigned products. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing assigned rail vehicle brake products through all phases of their life cycle
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding design, quality, and reliability needs
  • Designing and editing in SolidWorks, complying with drawing management requirements
  • Collaborating with R&D and quality technicians to validate products in laboratory settings
  • Delivering cost reduction in established products through intersection of design improvement and purchasing opportunity
  • Timely communicating new product design information to sales, purchasing, or manufacturing stakeholders

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 or more years of engineering experience. Experience with fluid dynamics, design for manufacturing processes, and SolidWorks is highly desirable.
