Psychological Health Coordinator

Windwalker Group is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Professional to support military personnel at the Vermont Army National Guard. As a Junior Psychological Health Coordinator, you will play a crucial part in enhancing access to Psychological Health (PH) and Substance Abuse counseling resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Mental Health Counseling, with a focus on substance use/misuse/abuse and suicidal ideations.
- Support the maintenance of a 24/7 crisis phone, offering support through calls and texts for Soldiers and their family members.
- Conduct mental status exams and other mental health evaluations.
- Attend weekly staff meetings to stay informed and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Navigate complex military health systems, support programs, and legal systems to ensure comprehensive care.
- Facilitate Behavioral Health briefs for units of varying sizes, including groups of 20-60 Soldiers and larger audiences of Soldiers and Family Members pre- and post-deployment.
- Advise unit leadership on situations involving Soldiers' mental health and fitness for duty.
- Collaborate with community-based counselors in navigating military requirements related to mental health issues.
- Provide group therapy sessions after critical incidents, such as the death or serious injury of a unit member.
- Assist Soldiers and Family Members in finding community-based counselors and maintain relationships with clinicians to expedite the process.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Vermont State licensure as a Mental Health Counselor or Substance Abuse Counselor
- Strong knowledge of substance abuse treatment modalities
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices related to suicidal ideations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with military personnel, understanding military culture, or working on a military base
- Familiarity with military deployment requirements and mental health regulations.
- Training in crisis intervention and trauma-focused therapy.
