As a Property Field Inspection Claims Specialist, you will utilize your expertise in managing accidental and weather-related claims for residential and commercial properties, including significant losses.
In this role, you will be the primary contact for our insured clients, clarifying coverage, assessing damages, and guiding them through the claims process while delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting on-site evaluations and assessments of property damages for both residential and commercial claims
- Collaborating with policyholders, insurance agents, and other stakeholders to gather information and resolve claims effectively
- Occasionally engaging with individuals who may express strong emotions or concerns regarding ongoing inspections or claim resolutions
- Providing outstanding customer service throughout the claims process, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
- Collecting necessary evidence, documenting findings, and preparing comprehensive reports to support the claims handling process
- Investigating and adjusting both personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000
- Evaluating coverage and policy terms to determine the validity of claims and ensure compliance with local regulations
- Negotiating and settling claims within authorized limits, considering policy provisions, industry standards, and company guidelines
While the primary work location is in the field, with a commutable distance from home, there will be opportunities for virtual work to be completed at home. Additionally, there may be occasions where travel to assist in other territories is required.
Hours of operation are subject to change based on business needs.
Successful candidates will be flexible and may be asked to work overtime and/or irregular hours. Candidates may also be required to work outside of their assigned territory as business needs dictate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred or equivalent work experience
- Experience as a Property Field Inspection Claims Specialist in the insurance sector, specifically in property claims
- Strong understanding of property insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of both residential and commercial building construction
- Familiarity with local regulations and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients, agents, and other stakeholders
- Proven ability to handle difficult/emotional conversations with a customer-focused approach
- Proven skills in assessing damages, estimating repair costs, and negotiating settlements
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical capabilities
- Proficient in using claims management software and other relevant tools
- Familiarity with local regulations and compliance requirements in your assigned territory
Physical Requirements:
Physical agility to allow for:
- Frequent lifting, carrying, and climbing ladders; ability to navigate roofs at various heights for inspection of both residential and commercial structures; ability to crawl in tight spaces
- A valid driver's license is required
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in managing complex or high-value claims
- Background in construction
- Water mitigation inspection
- Proficiency in Xactimate, XactContents
