Job Title: Automation Engineer

Actalent is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the PLC Siemens control system to operate efficiently and effectively to predetermined and agreed standards, and within budgetary constraints and quality standards.

You will undertake a comprehensive training program to understand every aspect of the Electrical engineering requirements within PLC Siemens. You will operate the company support systems and ensure they are properly used and maintained. You will attend any further training / development courses as required.

You will ensure the plant and equipment is fully operational and meets production requirements 365 days per year. You will provide support to the manufacturing areas while meeting budgetary requirements and within agreed timescales. You will assist with planning, installation and commissioning equipment as required. You will monitor equipment performance.

You will ensure a suitable availability of required essential spare parts, through liaison with the engineering manager and stores manager. You will assist when requested, with capital project planning and installation.

You will coordinate all control system engineering aspects of Siemens (involving PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, VFD (variable frequency drives: Sinamics, SEW, Lenze) while ensuring compliance with standards and current legislation, are maintained. You will organize the planning, maintenance and modifications of control systems.

You will provide recommendations to improve plant and efficiency, along with cost-effectiveness. Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical hands-on ability relating to automation hardware and software.
  • Understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices Siemens preferred, but others will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of electrical diagrams.
  • Online code monitoring, modification and development.
  • Experience in automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Training and certification from Siemens is preferred.
  • Programming experience preferably PLC Siemens (Simatic S7-1500), HMI Siemens WinCC, VFD (variable frequency drives: Sinamics, SEW, Lenze)
