Job Summary:

We provide high-quality certification services tailored to meet client needs efficiently and effectively, ensuring that safe products are accessible in the marketplace.

This role necessitates a thorough understanding of standards, processes, and procedures.

Technical decisions are made based on extensive knowledge, training, and experience in certification and testing, upholding the integrity of CSA's global certification programs.


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:


• Independently manage multiple certification projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
• Assess products against national and international standards and precedents.
• Handle a diverse range of projects, including complex ones that generate significant revenue.
• Deliver projects and tests within agreed timelines consistently.
• Demonstrate the ability to manage project costs effectively within the established budget.
• Maintain productivity in alignment with company expectations.
• Exhibit technical competence to review the work of colleagues according to divisional quality standards.
• Conduct witness testing as per divisional quality documents.
• Show technical expertise in two or more product qualification areas.
• Review test data and reports, authorizing the application of the CSA Mark. Prepare and/or sign Certification Reports and Certificates of Compliance.
• Assist clients in resolving issues or failures while safeguarding proprietary information.

• Keep the Product Group Manager or Team Leader informed of project status, highlighting significant problems and compliance issues.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Product Group Manager or Team Leader.
• Evaluate and qualify companies involved in Certification Programs. Review customer testing methods and systems, as well as product designs and documentation. Ensure all testing equipment and quality procedures adhere to guidelines. Provide technical briefings on new and existing requirements. Authorize the application or removal of the CSA Mark.

The qualified Certifier is responsible for involving the Technical Advisor or Certification Specialist in product or technical discussions unique to CSA or the individual's experience.

This collaboration helps advance consistency in practices and provides guidance early in the process.

• Provide technical information services to both external and internal customers, including inquiries forwarded by the Client Service Center. Collaborate with customers during the design phase to ensure compliance with national and international standards without compromising confidentiality.
• Work with sales to support existing clients and explore new client opportunities for growth.
• Prepare project quotations for costs and timelines. Classify products by use, environment, and function. Determine applicable requirements, tests, and standards. Establish sample requirements and testing methods best suited to client needs.
• Relay client feedback to Managers, Team Leaders, or Sales representatives as appropriate.
• Explain the various product certification programs available to clients and the requirements for production control.
• Operate within established DQD guidelines.

• Prepare Test Lab Work Orders and Special Testing Documentation, detailing relevant standards, test sample plans, data collection methods, Job Hazard Analysis, and other instructions.

• Provide necessary guidance to Lab Technicians to ensure compliance with requirements and data collection methods.
• Demonstrate experience in performing common testing within CSA laboratories.

• Conduct field visits and witness testing at manufacturers' facilities as required.

• Possess a solid understanding of the clauses and tests within the supported standards and demonstrate application across multiple product types.

• Exhibit the ability to compile evaluation records, data, and summary test results into forms, templates, and checklists with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrate the ability to accurately interpret test results with only minimal guidance and supervision.

Preferred Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with approximately 3 years of relevant experience or
• Certified Engineering Technologist, Journeyman Electrician, or equivalent industry experience with approximately 3 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with CSA, UL, and IEC Standards.
• Knowledge of various testing procedures.
• Understanding of CSA programs and services.

• Ability to communicate findings, test results, and technical decisions clearly and confidently to others, including customers and fellow engineers.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer service orientation.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office).
• Experience in technical report writing.
• Familiarity with various laboratory equipment, instruments, and tools.
