Key Responsibilities- Provide Direct Care to Students: Administer medications, give intramuscular injections, perform respiratory assessments, and assist with emergency needs.
- Monitor and Assess Student Health: Regularly assess student health to differentiate between those who can remain in school and those who need to be excluded due to illness.
- Maintain Accurate Health Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date health records for all students.
- Conduct Health Screenings: Conduct regular health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests, to identify issues and communicate with parents, guardians, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies as necessary.
- Attend 504 Plan Meetings and IEP Meetings: Attend meetings to support students with special healthcare needs and advise on modification of the education program to meet individual student health needs.
- Collaborate with Parents, Teachers, and Administrators: Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student health and create a safe school environment.
- Provide Health Education: Provide health education to students, staff members, parents, and guardians on topics such as hand hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and other preventive practices.
- Perform Mandatory Reporting Duties: Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Identify and Resolve Healthcare Issues: Identify problems and resolve moderately complex issues related to healthcare matters.
- Education and Experience: Grade 117 - Licensed Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training required. Grade 122 - Registered Nurse or equivalent education/training or is required. Minimum one (1) year registered nurse, practical nursing or closely related experience is required. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
