We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Material Handler I to join our team at Bell Laboratories Inc. As a Material Handler I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and shipping processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesSome of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Retrieving finished goods from production areas and moving them to the designated transition area in Shipping.
- Preparing packaging material skid tags with skid count, part number, date, and initials for bait and glue work in process (WIP) materials.
- Assisting with production changeovers by pulling unnecessary packaging off the production lines and putting it in the staging area in Receiving.
- Pulling gaylords of recyclables from production lines and updating the tally sheet.
- Collecting loose empty tridecka totes and putting them on production lines or the applicable collection area as space permits.
- Collecting loose pallets and putting them in front of the pallet trailer.
- Assisting the Material Handlers and Receivers as necessary.
- Continually gaining thorough knowledge of all Bell products, their related packaging, marking requirements, and proper packaging procedures.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the Receiving Supervisor.
- Maintaining a neat, orderly, and clean department and work environment.
- Being familiar with and following safety rules and procedures, including safety wear and emergency procedures.
- Arriving and reporting to the previous shift Material Handler I prior to the start of your shift to ensure adequate shift turnover.
- Performing overtime and other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to multi-task, with attention to detail and accuracy, basic math skills, and good organizational skills.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
You will be operating a variety of equipment, including:
- Forklift.
- Pallet-jacks (manual and electric).
- Cardboard and trash compactor.
- Bailer.
- Loading dock lifts.
- Scales.
