Job Summary

This role operates within the Student Business Services department, executing intricate accounting tasks, enforcing regulations, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and addressing inquiries related to student financial matters. Additionally, this position oversees and manages part-time staff, while delivering exceptional customer service and guidance to students, faculty, and staff.Essential Functions

30% Plan, organize, assign, supervise, review, and assess the work of all part-time staff on the team. Engage in hiring, time approval, disciplinary actions, and termination processes for part-time staff.
25% Deliver customer service in person, via phone, and online to students, faculty, staff, and the public; interpret and assist with student account inquiries; respond to complex questions regarding student financials, fiscal policies, financial aid, and third-party billing; ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures; serve as the lead worker and oversee temporary staff; collaborate with other departments to enhance student success.
25% Conduct daily cash counts, manage office operations in the Student Information System (SIS); balance and reconcile daily transactions, prepare cash summaries and bank deposits; maintain precise records; audit data entry for student accounts; download electronic reports for review and reconciliation; assess forms and documents for completeness and accuracy; create and maintain spreadsheets for data recording and reporting.
10% Process payments for student tuition and fees, third-party vouchers, fines, facility rentals, department payments, and event proceeds; verify refund and payment plan statuses; process student account refunds; prepare and reconcile cash boxes.
5% Assist at the cashier window for both employees and students.
5% Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in finance, accounting, or a closely related field, along with two years of experience in professional financial analysis relevant to the area of assignment. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and directly related full-time work experience may be considered sufficient to fulfill the essential duties of the position.

Desired Qualifications

A. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a higher education or governmental organization.
B. Three (3) years of experience utilizing online financial reporting systems such as Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Management System (FMS).
C. Five (5) years of fiscal experience related to student business services (cashiering).
D. Five (5) years of experience delivering high-quality customer service.
E. Five (5) years of experience with cash handling procedures and account reconciliation.

Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum driving standards.
  • Travel to various locations may be required.
  • Evening or weekend work may be necessary.
  • Prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen may be required.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 25 lbs may be necessary.
