Department Overview:

The Cyber Effects and Information Warfare (IW) Department is in search of a Senior Applied Cybersecurity Engineer to support advanced operations within the 16 AF Advanced Information Warfare project.

The Senior Applied Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate with various entities to address programming, acquisition, contracts, services, requirements, and capabilities across all Information Warfare mission elements, including Cyber, Electronic Warfare, Information Operations, Weather, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance.

This role requires providing technical expertise to support the cyber and cyber-related mission areas of the 16 AF A8.

The Senior Applied Cybersecurity Engineer will engage strategically with key stakeholders to define impactful mission outcomes, influence decisions, and deliver actionable recommendations based on data-driven insights.

In this position, you will guide the Sponsor to ensure that their acquisition and technical interests are effectively addressed, while proactively identifying significant challenges and the necessary solutions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of Information Warfare and Cyber Weapon Systems through design reviews, planning conferences, technical exchanges, and capability working groups.
  • Provide technical and acquisition expertise to 16 AF activities and associated weapon systems, addressing all relevant requirements.
  • Develop and recommend strategies for science and technology maturation and development planning efforts to modernize mission-associated weapon systems.
  • Advise on the prioritization of validated requirements, resources, and schedules.
  • Identify and propose solutions to resolve anomalies and maintain interoperability and configuration control.
  • Contribute to strategy development, future force design, and operational capability requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of programmatic, technical, and contractual requirements.
  • Engage in innovative and agile mission direction to meet evolving threats.
  • Collaborate with external partners in research efforts to provide technical recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain additional accesses.
  • Strong understanding of Air Force acquisition programs and Cyber Operations.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Command Policies and Processes.
  • Demonstrated technical team leadership experience.
  • Understanding of critical technical fields such as cloud computing, data engineering, and cybersecurity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Top Secret SCI Clearance.
  • Knowledge of Joint Cyber Warfighting Architecture.
  • Familiarity with Information Operations and Offensive Cyber Operations.
  • Prior experience with DoD acquisition programs.
  • Experience with the MITRE cyber platform and internal research projects.

Work Location:

This position requires on-site work.
