About Big West Oil

Big West Oil is looking for a dedicated professional to become part of our team as a Refinery Operations Educator. In this role, you will take charge of designing and managing comprehensive training initiatives for personnel involved in refinery operations.

Position Overview

Oversee and execute internal training programs tailored for refinery operations staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Management
    • Guarantee the secure functioning of operations and adherence to safety protocols.
    • Document all incidents and near misses.
    • Engage in the certification of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and investigations of incidents.
    • Support operators in reviewing and approving Management of Change (MOC) documents.
  • Training Development
    • Facilitate the training of both new hires and current employees.
    • Assess operator performance and address any shortcomings.
    • Create and revise SOPs and training materials.
    • Conduct regular safety briefings.
  • Operational Oversight
    • Ensure safe practices during shutdowns and startups.
    • Diagnose and resolve operational challenges.
    • Participate in daily operational discussions.
    • Act as a substitute for the Unit Supervisor when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Over 10 years of experience in oil refinery operations.
  • Preferred qualifications as a console operator.
  • Supervisory experience is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of refinery process units.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email applications.
