Job Title: Radiology Nurse

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a skilled Radiology Nurse to join our team. As a Radiology Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced radiology environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and assess patient's hemodynamic response to therapeutic intervention by accurate cardiovascular monitoring.
  • Monitor, evaluate, document, and troubleshoot patient's hemodynamic response with use of special procedure equipment.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and intervene appropriately with patients receiving conscious sedation.
  • Accurately transcribe, review, and carry out physician orders.
  • Assess/re-assess as per hospital policy.
  • Competent in the insertion of peripheral intravenous catheters.
  • Demonstrate appropriate safety measures as it relates to potential radiation exposure and flammable chemical.
  • Assess and implement safety devices pre-intra-post special procedures.
  • Demonstrate proper groin management for arterial sheath interventions.
  • Perform and document vital signs and initial assessment upon arrival to unit.
  • Perform and document ongoing Assessment/re-assessment.
  • Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate action or intervention.
  • Assess patient education needs prior to the procedure.
  • Assess and interact with patient according to age-specific development.
  • Initiate a plan of care upon assessment.
  • Establish priorities for patient care based on patient needs.
  • Verbalize understanding of patient diagnosis and medical and nursing plan of care.
  • Safely and correctly initiate and document nursing interventions in emergency situations.
  • Prepare intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
  • Administer, observe, and document intravenous therapy according to hospital policy.
  • Administer medications as ordered by physician, observe and document effectiveness, recognize and report adverse reactions immediately.
  • Provide individualized instructions to patient regarding the plan of care.
  • Demonstrate safe and correct use of unit-specific equipment.
  • Ensure each patient's general hygiene needs.
  • Perform pre-procedure and post-procedure care and instruction for each assigned special procedure patient.
  • Adhere to standard precautions including hand hygiene guidelines at all times.
  • Document specific patient valuables on designated form when received and immediately arrange for appropriate storage.
  • Perform dressing changes using aseptic technique.
  • Collect and label specimens per policy when ordered by physician.
  • Perform bedside glucose monitoring according to policy.
  • Report all abnormal findings immediately to physician.
  • Insert intermittent or indwelling urinary catheter using aseptic technique.
  • Administer oxygen therapy according to physician order.
  • Transfer patients in/out of the unit in an efficient manner, by obtaining a complete and correct set of physician's post-procedure orders. Give report to receiving unit timely.
  • Demonstrate safe and correct use of restraints as per policy.
  • Document/reports patient responses or outcomes resulting from: nursing interventions, treatments/procedures, interpersonal interactions, and patient/family education.
  • Evaluate and document patient's progress towards established goals/objectives every shift.
  • Obtain 100% mandatory hospital and unit-specific inservice hours, prior to evaluation date.
  • Plans, presents, and documents unit inservice as required by the department.
  • Documents competency in clinical skills, at least annually.
  • Attends staff meetings as required by the department.
  • Uses established lines of communication for resolution of problems and interpersonal conflict.
  • Ensures productivity daily by facilitating patient plan for scheduled procedures.
  • Participates in PI program by identifying PI indicators at unit level.
  • Collects PI data as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Current License in the State of Florida. BLS and ACLS required.
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • One to two years of clinical experience. 6 months in a monitored and/or special patient care unit preferred. Radiology/CT experience preferred.
