Job Title: DV/CW Advocate

At The Spring of Tampa Bay, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate DV/CW Advocate to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing support and advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Job Summary:

The DV/CW Advocate will work collaboratively with our Community Based Care Agency (CBC) and Case Management Organizations (CMOs) to provide training, technical assistance, and support to CMOs regarding domestic violence. You will also provide empowerment-based advocacy, safety planning, supportive counseling, and crisis intervention to victims and survivors of domestic violence with an open child welfare case.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence, service programs, and confidentiality and privilege.
  • Work collaboratively with CMO staff on reports of child abuse involving domestic violence.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to CMO staff on topics related to domestic violence and child welfare.
  • Develop and implement written procedures and protocols regarding working with families with an open child welfare case involving domestic violence.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, linkage to other Spring services, and referrals to survivors and their families.
  • Accompany survivors to court and participate in case staffings that involve child abuse and domestic violence.
  • Attend agency meetings, technical assistance training, and statewide quarterly meetings of the FCADV DV/CPI/Child Welfare project.
  • Record and compile statistical data and submit reports as required by The Spring and FCADV.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the field of domestic violence.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and survivor issues.
  • Experience in court advocacy and/or negotiation.
  • Ability to function calmly in a crisis atmosphere.
  • Must be able to function independently while working cooperatively as a member of a team.
  • Must have knowledge of community resources and the ability to maintain a cordial working relationship with other agencies.
  • Must be able to work with a culturally diverse community with sensitivity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
  • Proficient in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is normally that of an office atmosphere with a moderate noise level.

Additional Remarks:

This position requires the ability to handle crisis situations calmly and with expertise, as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making.
