About the Job

The California Park & Rec Society is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Director to lead the development and implementation of our aquatics programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and executing strategies to maximize pool usage, expand existing programs, and develop new initiatives to meet the needs of our community.

This is an exempt position that requires a strong leader who can build and manage a high-performing team. You will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff, as well as developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of our participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement aquatics programs that meet the needs of our community
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors, and aquatics coordinators
  • Develop and manage budgets for aquatics programs
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools and community organizations to promote our aquatics programs
  • Conduct regular staff trainings and in-services to ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of programs and services
Requirements:
  • Minimum 21 years old
  • College degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years working in Aquatics programming
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Availability includes afternoon, evenings, and weekends
  • 2+ years previous experience including supervisory and budget experience
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and YMCA approved BLS, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen certifications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin
  • YUSA Lifeguard Instructor Certified, Y Swim Lesson Instructor (or equivalent)
