Amherst College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Central Energy Plant Supervisor to oversee the management and operation of the college's Central Energy Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the plant, including maintenance, repair, and planning of all associated equipment and controls.
Key Responsibilities- Plant Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Central Energy Plant, including management of personnel, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
- Energy Procurement and Fuel Management: Participate in energy procurement and fuel switching/arbitrage strategies to ensure the most cost-effective fuel source is selected.
- Capital Project Management: Assist in the planning, scheduling, and controlling of costs for capital projects, including upgrades to the plant and associated systems.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the Central Energy Plant budget, including purchasing and maintaining inventory control of all associated materials and supplies.
- Customer Relations: Establish and maintain positive customer relations with the campus community, including responding to emergency calls and providing support as needed.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience overseeing similar power plant operations.
- Licenses and Certifications: Massachusetts 2nd Class Stationary Engineers License.
- Education: Associate's degree plus 5 years of experience, or in lieu of a degree, 7+ years of experience.
- Criminal Offender Records Information (CORI) Check: Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and lift test.
- Education: Bachelor's degree and/or 10 years of power plant operation and management experience.
- Experience: 10+ years of power plant operation and management experience.
