The Community Youth Support Specialist role is dedicated to assisting young individuals through the DCS program, focusing on the development and maintenance of essential life skills that enhance their overall well-being within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support in daily routines, ensuring the achievement of goals outlined in the Plan(s) of Care.
- Uphold Turning Point's core values in all interactions with youth and community members, utilizing respectful communication and connecting them to preferred activities and experiences.
- Facilitate community integration for youth, ensuring they feel included, respected, and valued while fostering diverse relationships within their chosen community.
Transportation and Safety:
- Ensure safe transportation for youth to various events, educational institutions, and medical appointments, utilizing agency vehicles, personal vehicles, or public transport as necessary.
- Coordinate alternative transportation when safety concerns arise with unpaid support.
Resource Management:
- Oversee the appropriate use of youth and agency resources, including personal funds, vehicles, and supplies.
- Attend all required training sessions provided by Turning Point or DCS.
Nutritional Support:
- Prepare and provide meals according to scheduled menus, ensuring that nutritional needs are adequately met.
Skill Development:
- Engage in daily activities or instruct youth in essential life skills that promote independence and self-sufficiency.
- Document progress consistently to track improvements toward achieving desired outcomes.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain regular contact with youth, families, DCS, and external stakeholders to encourage satisfaction and address any concerns.
Medication Management:
- Supervise the storage and administration of medications in accordance with established standards.
Personal Care:
- Ensure youth maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness with as much assistance as they can provide.
- Maintain a clean living environment and assist youth with laundry tasks.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Ensure that all vehicles used for transportation are clean and properly maintained.
Religious Participation:
- Support youth in participating in their chosen religion or faith.
Confidentiality:
- Protect the confidentiality of all youth information.
