Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cafeteria General Helper to join our team at Panama-Buena Vista Union School District. As a Cafeteria General Helper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cafeteria, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation, counter setup, and serving to ensure a seamless dining experience for students and staff.
  • Participate in cleaning, storing, and receiving of food and supplies, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment, such as commercial food processors, mixers, and dishwashers, to prepare and serve meals.
  • Assist with cooking, baking, and preparing meat and bread products using specialized equipment.
  • Receive, inspect, store, and rotate inventory to maintain a well-stocked and organized kitchen.
  • Participate in preparing food for field trips and other events, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Record food temperatures at required intervals to maintain a safe food environment.
  • Clean, wash, and sanitize kitchen equipment, surfaces, and floors to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Assist with point-of-sale operations, including accepting payments and processing daily receipts.
  • Collaborate with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid California driver's license required.
  • ServSafe certification preferred.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and locations.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $21.53 per hour, eight steps, 3-4 hours per day, and five days per week (M-F). Holidays, sick leave, and vacation benefits are also included.
