Job Summary:

The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cafeteria General Helper to join our team. As a Cafeteria General Helper, you will be responsible for assisting with food preparation, counter setup, and serving. You will also be involved in cleaning, storing, and receiving food and supplies, as well as performing other related tasks as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assemble food items, including fruits, vegetables, and cooked items, for packaging and serving.
  • Assist with delivering meals to classrooms and arranging café service lines and individually packaged food items.
  • Serve food items according to specified portions and pre-determined menus and standardized recipes.
  • Operate miscellaneous kitchen equipment, such as a commercial food processor, mixer, slicing machine, dishwasher, and warming oven.
  • Assist with receiving, inspecting, storing, and rotating inventory.
  • Participate in preparing food for field trips and other prescheduled events.
  • Record food temperatures at required intervals during the food preparation process.
  • Clean, wash, and sanitize kitchen equipment, food preparation and servicing area surfaces, and sweep floors.
  • Learn and serve as a point-of-sale cashier, accepting money, entering data into computerized program, and assisting in compilation of daily receipts.
  • Work with custodial and maintenance staff to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen and equipment.
  • Attend meetings and trainings required by the district.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in large quantity food preparation and serving preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a ServSafe certificate.

Salary and Benefits:
  • $17.51 per hour.
  • Varying shifts and locations.
