Job Title: Juv Probation Officer I

Job Summary:

The Juv Probation Officer I is responsible for providing supervision and support to youth involved in the juvenile justice system. This includes conducting initial intake interviews, assessing risk and need levels, and developing individualized case plans. The successful candidate will work closely with the Court, County Attorney's Office, Defense Attorneys, and service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial intake interviews of youth and family to gather and assess information
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans to address the needs of youth
  • Provide supervision and support to youth in the community, including home, school, and work visits
  • Collaborate with the Court, County Attorney's Office, Defense Attorneys, and service providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for youth
  • Prepare reports and documents for the court and testify when required
  • Provide transportation to treatment facilities or other care as required or directed by the Area Manager
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with court orders, deferred prosecution rules, condition of release, diversion program, and temporary pre-court monitoring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related major
  • One year of experience in corrections, counseling, sociology, or closely related experience
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain Juvenile Probation Officer Certification

Work Environment:

The Juv Probation Officer I will work in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office or facility setting with lifting of light materials and equipment. The position involves routine and frequent exposure to potentially hostile or physically aggressive youth, face-to-face contact with diverse populations, bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, and potential for extreme noise levels.
