Job SummaryThe Mechanical Engineer will support both pre-sale technical and post-sale detailed engineering activities. This role is responsible for defining technical solutions proposed to Westerman's customers and developing detailed engineering to support fabrication drawing packages and Bills of Materials.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate customer-supplied data, including 3D CADD files, drawings, and quality documents, to extract requirements impacting designs and end products.
- Engage with external customers, project managers, and the commercial team to discuss gaps in defined scope of supply compared to customer requirements.
- Pursue identification of scope changes and escalate to project managers or commercial leads for consideration.
- Develop P&ID's from scratch or via redlining of existing documents to communicate project requirements to estimators and designers.
- Perform equipment sizing calculations using process simulation software, in-house developed spreadsheets, and other tools.
- Review and approve 3D models and drawings for assigned projects.
- Perform process design calculations for control valves, pressure regulators, pressure safety valves, and pressure vacuum relief valves.
- Apply ASME pressure vessel code calculations using Codeware COMPRESS.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar capacity in a manufacturing environment with engineered-to-order products.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, and other standards.
- Experience in applying NFPA requirements for electrical area classification to designs.
- Experience specifying and designing process control systems comprised of pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and electronic devices.
- In-depth knowledge of national and international codes and standards for Oil & Gas process equipment design and fabrication.
- Ability to develop process equipment schemes and layouts from conceptual design basis considering operability, maintenance, and safety.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Software proficiency in Microsoft Office and process simulation software.

- Must be able to travel by car and airplane to other facilities if needed.
- Driving is an essential function of this position; a clean driving record is required.
