About the Role

VSC Fire & Security, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Technician to join our team. As a Fire Protection Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and repairing security, camera, access control, suppression, and fire sprinkler systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Installation and Repair: Installs, tests, and repairs security, camera, access control, suppression, and fire sprinkler systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoots system malfunctions and problems to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • System Knowledge: Has in-depth knowledge of multiple types of systems and tests for proper operation to ensure compliance with NFPA fire codes.
  • Client Consultation: Consults with clients on system issues, provides recommendations for repair, and explains system function and operations to end users.
  • System Inspection and Testing: Inspects and tests systems, makes adjustments and repairs as required, and ensures systems comply with NFPA fire codes.
  • Hardware Replacement: Replaces malfunctioning hardware when necessary to maintain system functionality.
  • On-Call Responsibilities: Be on call as required to provide technical assistance and support to clients.
  • Remote Troubleshooting: Performs remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Form Development and Maintenance: Provides support for form development and maintenance of inspection forms to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Design Plan Implementation: Follows design plans for installation jobs and communicates any design, perform service and deficiency jobs, and communicates and documents any changes.
  • Job Site Management: Responsible for materials delivered to site and for minor fabrication on job site, and may be expected to oversee the day-to-day work of other employees assigned to the job.
Requirements
  • Experience: Two to three years of experience in servicing sprinkler systems and suppression systems.
  • Skills: Proficient in following written and verbal instructions, with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Productivity and Goal Setting: Ability to maintain productivity in the field, set goals, and meet service schedule.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Competent in reading plans, documents, meters, and to discern colors for safety signage.
  • Background Checks: Ability to pass various background checks.
  • Transportation: Reliable transportation, valid State Driver's License with acceptable driving record for use of company vehicle.
  • Certifications: Desirable (but not required): NICET I OR II, Avigilon Cert, other manufacturers certifications.
