Job Description

As a Senior Risk Management Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring and examining activities to assess and report on the status and direction of credit risk within assigned consumer or small business portfolios. You will identify risk direction drivers, evaluate origination quality, portfolio quality, and elements of credit risk management through review of various credit metrics, transaction testing, and periodic interaction with first and second line of defense business managers, staff, and other risk assessment functions. Your expertise will ensure that all aspects of credit risk management are in compliance with regulatory requirements and sound lending practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews credit exposures to provide assurance of compliance with Regions' credit policies as well as safe and sound banking practices.
  • Participates and/or takes a leadership role in credit risk review examinations, which may include horizontal reviews that cross lines of business and geographies with minimal guidance from management.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with line of business management, credit risk management, audit staff, and other departments.
  • Analyzes trends in key quality and performance metrics, reviews transactions, and assesses processes associated with the origination and servicing of assigned loan portfolios.
  • Leads the identification and monitoring of evolution of key risk direction drivers for assigned portfolios.
  • Independently performs ad hoc analysis of often complex credit risk issues, frequently requiring aggregation of transaction data through use of spreadsheet or database software.
  • Maintains specialized knowledge as required for assigned lines of business, which may include expertise required to assess periodic validation of credit scoring models, understanding portfolio valuation techniques, etc.
  • Proposes appropriate ratings and risk direction assessments and participates in developing findings and conclusions, presenting results to senior managers, and in completing written reports within departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains information or work papers to support review process and findings.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of credit risk review procedures, sound lending practices, credit policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • May serve as lead review analyst for assigned line(s) of business for continuous monitoring of credit risk conducted between examinations.
  • Collaborates with senior management in maintaining relevant knowledge of evolving and changing regulations and policies.
  • Collaborates with senior management in the development of team goals and objectives, ensuring consistent achievement.
  • Offers advice and guidance to junior examiners, assisting in the development of necessary skills and the promotion of continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay. This position is incentive eligible.
